  • Do I need a prescription from a pediatrician before seeing you?
    It depends. Good news is that we have Direct Access laws in New York! This gives us 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. After that, prescriptions are required for physical therapy evaluations and treatment, but not for playgroups, Made2Move Memberships, or Consultations. If you will be submitting your superbill for reimbursement, please check with your insurance provider, some require pre-approval or a prescription even for your first visit.
  • Is it possible to have physical therapy sessions at our family’s house?
    Maybe! Having PT sessions at your home is super convenient for your schedule and more comfortable for your child, so depending on schedule and distance, I will try to accommodate if possible. Keep in mind there is an additional travel fee for every session held outside of clinic space, depending on distance. These home sessions are not a substitute for or similar to Early Intervention.
  • Can my family have play sessions at our home?
    Absolutely! Play events can take place at homes or in community spaces (like parks) as long as a minimum of four families sign up for the same day, time, and location.
  • Does the adult have to stay for the full session?
    Yes, for both physical therapy and play sessions, an adult (either you or another caregiver) need to accompany your child. Not only does your attendance help your child feel safe, but it creates a more playful dynamic with your child, and also gives you the opportunity for some hands-on, live learning beyond the home plan.
  • Do you accept insurance?
    Grow & Go Physical Therapy doesn't contract with insurance carriers, but you can receive a coded superbill receipt for services- you can then submit it to be reimbursed by your carrier. If you are looking specifically for a provider who is in-network and contracted by your insurance plan, please ask your carrier to send you a directory of providers. Grow & Go, PT, PC is dedicated to working with families and children, without any conflicts of interest, which unfortunately, insurance carriers don’t value (yet!).
  • How do I know if my child is a good candidate for Physical Therapy or Play?
    If your child tends to avoid activities, has difficulty completing certain movements, or falls behind their peers (or tries to do the same move, but in a “unique” way), it may be worth checking if there’s a need for a more formal evaluation. Physical therapy or intentional physical play can also help if your child doesn't show interest in activities, avoids opportunities to connect with other kids, or if you’re a parent who’s looking to learn more about joyful play.
  • I have more than one child. Is there a discount for scheduling a play session?
    Definitely for our play sessions! Each additional child (sibling) receives 10% off. In terms of physical therapy, pricing must remain consistent across all clients. If you need care, but are having financial hardship or a unique circumstance, please feel free to contact us to discuss.
  • Can my babysitter attend my child’s physical therapy session?
    Certainly! Technically any adult who is responsible for playtime and physical health could benefit from attending a session. If you would like to have someone aside from you accompany your child, feel free to let me know. Grandparents commonly show up for sessions and I love seeing families bridge generational gaps through playtime.
  • How should I dress my child for a physical therapy/play session?
    Whatever makes you and your child the most comfortable is always best. This may change session to session and that’s okay. Loose clothing that won’t restrict rotation of arms/legs or body (t-shirts vs. crotch-clipped onesies are preferred) is best and indoor shoes if your child is working on walking/balance goals. For the first evaluation, please keep in mind that t-shirt/shorts would be best to accurately visualize movement and posture. If your goal includes pelvic health, we will discuss what to wear on an individual basis.
  • Do you provide exercises that we can work on at home?
    Absolutely! Keep in mind that “exercise” looks a bit different depending on your goal, child, and many other factors. The philosophy behind my approach is that doing anything in a clinic or gym is only helpful if it is then practiced and used outside of the clinic—in real life!
